A decorative ceremonial style sword, identified by a brass arched plaque at the pommel as The Columbus Sword. The piece is a contemporary reproduction of a late 15th-century Spanish historical style. The polished stainless steel blade features extensive gold-etched decorative panels on the upper section, including repeating sunburst or compass rose patterns, architectural motifs resembling Gothic columns, and heraldic shields with lions and castles. The hilt comprises a gold-toned openwork pommel in a quatrefoil design and a grip wrapped in red velvet with twisted gold-toned wire overlays. The straight brass-toned crossguard features flared terminals and is incised with the Latin inscription MATER DEI MEMENTO MEI on one side and the Spanish motto TANTO MONTA TANTO MONTA on the reverse. The sword is presented on a shaped mahogany-toned wooden mounting plaque, which includes two brass support pegs and a fixed black leather style scabbard tip with a metal chape.

Condition report:

The item is in good decorative condition. Light surface dust and minor tarnishing are visible on the brass hilt components and the decorative brass plaque (photo 1). The red velvet grip appears intact with no visible fraying or losses (photo 2). The wooden mounting plaque shows minor edge wear and light surface marks consistent with handling (photo 1). The etched decoration on the blade remains clear and bright (photo 4).
