Buyer's Premium:

A pair of vertical compositions executed in ink and colour on a buff-coloured substrate, likely silk or paper. The works belong to the traditional huaniao-hua (bird and flower) genre. One painting depicts a small green and white bird perched on a branch of white plum blossoms with bamboo foliage in the background. It bears a vertical inscription reading 梅竹瘦煙 (Plum, Bamboo, Slender Mist) and is dated 甲寅年三月 (Jia Yin year, third month), corresponding to 1974, accompanied by a square red artist’s seal. The second painting features a similar bird on a branch of pink flowering blossoms. Its inscription reads 妍亭鳥語 (Beautiful Pavilion Bird Song) and is dated 癸丑年十月 (Gui Chou year, tenth month), corresponding to 1973, also bearing a square red artist’s seal. Both works are set within dark green mats and housed in gilt-toned wooden frames behind glass.

Condition report:

Both paintings appear to be in good overall condition. There is no evidence of significant foxing, moisture damage, or fading visible through the glass. The gilt-toned frames exhibit minor surface scuffs, small scratches, and light wear consistent with age and handling.
