Buyer's Premium:

A small oak bureau on stand in the Queen Anne style, dating from the early 20th century. The piece is constructed from quarter-sawn oak, which displays prominent medullary rays across the grain of the fall-front. The fall-front opens to reveal a fitted interior containing four vertical pigeonholes positioned above two horizontal cubby compartments. The writing surface is inset with a green leather-effect material with pinked, zig-zag cut edges. A single full-width drawer is located beneath the writing slope, fitted with two brass drop handles. The fall-front is supported by two pull-out lopers and retains its original key. The desk is raised on four slender cabriole legs. No maker marks, labels, or stamps were identified during inspection.

Condition report:

The item is in fair to good condition, showing signs of use commensurate with its age. The woodwork displays surface scratches, minor dings, and some wear to the polish, particularly on the top and the fall-front. The green writing inset is wrinkled and loose in several areas, requiring re-adhering or replacement. Historic ink stains are visible on the base of the interior compartments. The structure remains sound and the drawer and lopers operate as intended.
