Estimated price: £10 - £20

Buyer's Premium:

A Victorian mahogany parlour tub armchair featuring a deep, curved backrail terminating in padded arms. The frame is constructed from a dark-stained wood, possibly mahogany, with a central pierced splat below the backrail showcasing carved foliate and scroll motifs. The arm supports are similarly decorated with carved accents. The chair is raised on ring-turned and fluted front legs and square-section swept rear legs. The seat, arms, and backrest are fully upholstered in a cream and pale yellow fabric with a repeating geometric trellis pattern. The backrest is finished with three fabric-covered buttons, and a decorative braided gimp trim runs along the seat rail and arm edges. The upholstery appears to be a later addition. There are no visible maker’s marks or stamps on the frame.

Condition report:

The chair is in good overall condition. The wooden frame exhibits minor surface wear, small scuffs, and abrasions consistent with age and domestic use. The later upholstery is clean and in well-maintained condition with no significant staining or tears observed. The joints appear structurally sound.
