Two George V sterling silver trophies manufactured by Cooper Brothers and Sons and awarded by the Purley Rifle Club to C. Paris Jones. The larger trophy is a two-handled cup form featuring a decorative scrolled rim and is inscribed PURLEY RIFLE CLUB WINNER C. PARIS JONES. 1924. It bears Sheffield hallmarks including a crown, a lion passant, the date letter g for 1924, and the maker mark CB over S. The second trophy is a hammered-finish silver footed bowl with lug handles, inscribed PURLEY RIFLE CLUB ARCHER CUP C. PARIS JONES. and bears Sheffield hallmarks for 1925 with the date letter h and maker mark CB over and S. Both items are mounted on turned dark circular bases.
Condition report:
Both trophies exhibit significant surface tarnishing and oxidation throughout. There is surface wear, light scratching, and minor pitting consistent with age. The wooden bases show minor scuffing and wear to the finish.
