A collection of vintage mid-20th-century kitchenware, primarily manufactured by James A. Jobling and Co. (JAJ) at the Wear Glass Works in Sunderland. The glass pieces are constructed from white opal glass, commonly known as milk glass. The collection includes a large oval lidded casserole dish in the Kent pattern, featuring a stylized foliate and bud design in shades of orange, yellow, and green. A large round casserole dish is decorated with a multi-coloured harvest fruit pattern, including grapes and pears. Both casserole dishes are fitted with clear glass lids. Two items are decorated in the Chelsea pattern, characterized by orange geometric square motifs: a lidded sugar bowl and an open circular serving bowl. Additionally, there is a medium oval dish featuring a geometric triangular pattern in light blue and green. The lot is completed by two square-section white ceramic storage canisters labeled Coffee and Sugar in green script, featuring fruit motifs that coordinate with the Pyrex harvest pattern. The glass lids feature embossed circular maker’s marks containing the letters JAJ, surrounded by the words MADE IN ENGLAND and PYREX.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good vintage condition. The decorative transfers and patterns remain bright and intact across all pieces. No significant chips, cracks, or structural damage are visible. The clear glass lids exhibit light surface wear and minor scratching consistent with age and regular domestic use.
