A mid-20th-century Chinoiserie-style table lamp featuring a carved white alabaster figure of a Chinese sage or immortal, likely Shou Lao. The figure is depicted with a traditionally elongated cranium, long beard, and flowing robes, standing upon an integral octagonal base. The translucent alabaster displays natural veining throughout. A brass-toned metal support rod rises behind the figure to the lamp socket. The piece is fitted with a conical woven wicker coolie-style shade with a decorative open-weave pattern. The lamp is equipped with a white plastic power cord. The plug has been removed.
Condition report:
The alabaster figure remains in good condition with no visible cracks or major chips. The wicker shade is intact with no significant damage to the weave. The metal support rod shows minor surface oxidation and wear consistent with age. Electrical fittings have not been tested; professional inspection and PAT testing are recommended prior to use.
