This lot comprises two portable magnetic tape recording devices dating from the late 1960s or early 1970s. The first unit is an International model TC-408 portable reel-to-reel tape recorder. The device is constructed with a tan-moulded plastic housing and features four red piano-key style buttons for record, play, rewind, and stop functions. It includes a side-mounted speed selector wheel marked H-I-L and a top-mounted volume dial. Connectivity is provided via 3.5mm jacks for a microphone and earphone. The unit is housed in its original polystyrene foam base and is accompanied by a matching tan plastic lid, two small tape reels, and a handheld microphone.
The second unit is a Standard Astroline series model SR-T112E portable cassette tape recorder. The recorder is housed in a black plastic cabinet with a brushed metal speaker grille. It is operated by a series of six piano-key buttons for rewind, fast forward, play, stop, and record. It includes a volume thumbwheel and a red indicator lamp for battery and signal levels. This unit is provided with its original black vinyl protective carrying case with a shoulder strap, an AC power lead, and the original printed operating instructions manual.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit surface wear, scuffs, and dust accumulation consistent with age and previous use. The polystyrene base for the International unit shows some staining and minor compression damage. The vinyl carrying case for the Standard recorder shows minor wear to the edges. Both units are sold in untested condition as-is for parts, restoration, or display.
