A pair of Mid-Century Modern teak bedside chests from the Cantata range, attributed to Stag and designed by John and Sylvia Reid. Each chest is constructed with teak veneers and features two full-width drawers. The design is characterised by rounded vertical front edges and an integrated plinth base. Each drawer is fitted with an original semi-circular brushed metal pull in a dull brass-tone finish. These pieces are typical of British furniture manufacturing from the late 1960s or 1970s. No maker’s marks or labels are visible in the photographs.
Condition report:
The chests exhibit signs of significant use and age-related wear. Both top surfaces show noticeable finish degradation, including scuffing, surface scratches, and areas of finish loss. There are minor dings and chips to the veneer on the edges and bases consistent with age. The metal pulls show some surface tarnishing and wear. The drawers appear functional.
