Buyer's Premium:

An assortment of decorative ceramics and porcelain comprising European figurines and Japanese export wares. The collection includes a large circular ceramic plaque featuring a hand-painted central composition of multi-coloured roses against a woodland landscape, signed H. Burton to the lower left. Among the European porcelain is a two-branch candelabrum encrusted with floral bocage and a central figure of a woman with pitchers, bearing a blue underglaze crossed swords style mark to the base. A second figurine depicts an allegory of Harvest holding a sickle and sheaf of wheat with a winged mythical creature at the base, also bearing a blue underglaze crossed swords style mark with a horizontal dash. A polychrome glazed earthenware figure titled Sand depicts a woman with a donkey, after a Shorter and Son model designed by Clarice Cliff. Japanese export items include a mustard-yellow baluster vase with moriage floral panels and the mark for the Ito Ebine Company, and a bulbous landscape vase with floral bands and gilt handles marked Made in Japan. Additionally, the lot contains a small figurine of a chimney sweep seated on a pig, incised Spö 61 to the base with a blue underglaze V-shape mark, and a bisque porcelain lace ballerina.

Condition report:

The collection exhibits various states of condition. The large floral plaque shows visible cracks and surface scuffing to the left side and rim. The allegorical harvest figure has a significant glued repair running across the base and losses to the delicate floral encrustations. The bisque lace ballerina is heavily damaged with a detached leg and significant shattering to the porcelain lace tutu. The candelabrum and vases show general surface wear and minor losses to gilding and raised moriage decoration. The pottery sand seller figure shows typical age-related glaze crazing and surface grime.
