This late 20th-century dining suite is constructed from stained knotty pine with a warm medium-toned finish. The set of six chairs comprises two carver armchairs and four side chairs. Each chair features a decorative pierced splat in a fan design, in the style of 18th-century Hepplewhite furniture. The chairs are designed with turned front legs and square-section rear legs. The carver chairs feature shaped, open armrests supported by curved uprights. The drop-in seats are upholstered in a coral-pink colour velvet fabric. The accompanying circular dining table features a solid pine top supported by a substantial turned central pedestal column, which terminates in four shaped, splayed legs. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces or undersides of the items.
Condition report:
The suite appears to be in overall good, used condition. There are minor surface scratches and indentations to the wood throughout, particularly on the table top and chair legs, consistent with age and domestic use. The velvet upholstery shows some light shading and wear typical of the material, but appears free from major stains or tears. One side chair appears to be missing the stretchers between the legs.
