Buyer's Premium:

A mid-20th-century wall-mounted banjo-style weather station retailed by the British firm H. Samuel. The case is constructed from polished light oak and features a traditional broken-arch pediment topped with a central brass urn-shaped finial. A small convex mirror is inset into the neck above the thermometer. The central circular aneroid barometer features a silvered dial with a decorative compass rose and dual scales for atmospheric pressure in inches (28 to 31) and millibars (950 to 1060). The dial is printed with weather indications including Stormy, Rain, Change, Fair, and Very Dry, and is marked H. SAMUEL and MADE IN ENGLAND at the bottom edge. It is fitted with a black indicator hand and a secondary brass reference pointer. Mounted centrally is a vertical spirit thermometer on a brass plate, dual-scaled in Celsius (0 to 50 degrees) and Fahrenheit (20 to 120 degrees). At the base is a circular hygrometer marked WEATHERMASTER Clevedon HYGROMETER, with a silvered dial graduated from 0 to 100 for percentage of relative humidity, with zones marked Dry, Comfort Zone, and Humid. The reverse of the case features two circular apertures for adjusting the internal mechanisms.

Condition report:

The weather station is in good aesthetic condition. The oak case shows minor age-related surface wear and light scratches. Brass elements exhibit some light tarnishing. The thermometer spirit column is intact. The glass covers to the dials are present and undamaged. The functional accuracy of the barometer and hygrometer mechanisms has not been verified.
