Buyer's Premium:

This lot features a varied collection of approximately fifteen framed prints and artworks of diverse subject matter. The primary item is a pencil and charcoal profile sketch of a woman, signed Prue and dated 52 (1952) in the lower right corner. The collection includes a set of six colour botanical prints, likely offset lithographs, in the style of Elizabeth Blackwell, featuring studies such as Iris florentina, Rosa centifolia, and Narcissus jonquilla, housed in matching mahogany-coloured frames with gilt slips. Also present is a religious colour print titled Christ among the Lilies by Margaret Tarrant, with the artist’s name and title printed in the lower margin. Railway interest is represented by two prints, including a large colour depiction of the Southern Railway West Country Class No. 21C123 Blackmore Vale designed by O.V. Bulleid. The lot further contains two mid-20th-century tinted child-themed prints titled In The Corner and Me’s Good Now!, various landscapes including a view of Old Village Shanklin and a lake scene, and a study of a Golden Retriever puppy. Frames vary in style, including gilt wood, mahogany-effect, and painted finishes. No edition numbers are discernible on the prints.

Condition report:

Overall condition is fair. The sketch signed Prue shows significant foxing and toning across the paper support. The Margaret Tarrant print exhibits notable toning and foxing within the mount. Many of the other prints show signs of age-related toning, light fading, and occasional foxing. The frames exhibit typical minor shelf wear, including small scuffs and chips to the edges and corners.
