A collection of eleven commemorative wall plaques, featuring military service-related shields and one maritime charity plaque. The collection represents various branches of the Royal Navy, the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Each plaque consists of a shaped wooden base with varying finishes, mounted with a cast metal crest featuring hand-painted enamel detailing and inscribed motto scrolls. The group includes a RAAF Chaplains Branch plaque with the motto In Christ We Serve; a RAN Chaplains plaque with the motto For God and Country; a diamond-form HMS Hecla plaque with a heavy rope border and crest of four flames; a HMS Osprey (R.N.A.S. Portland) shield with the motto Ne Exeat; and a diamond-form HMS Arethusa plaque. Further naval shields include Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth; HMS Neptune (UK Submarine Service) with the motto Regnare Est Servire; HMS Ark Royal with the motto Desir Na Repos; HMS Seahawk (R.N.A.S. Culdrose) featuring a hawk crest; and HMS Raleigh with the motto Amore Et Virtute. The collection is completed by a Flying Angel Club Fremantle plaque representing the Mission to Seafarers maritime charity.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition, commensurate with age and display. The wooden mounts show minor surface scuffing and light dust. The hand-painted enamel on the metal crests remains bright with only minimal instances of chipping. Some light oxidation and patina are present on the metallic borders and scrolls.
