This Regency mahogany bow-front chest of drawers dates to the early 19th century. The chest features a classic arrangement of two short over three long graduated drawers, each with a curved front to follow the line of the carcass. The exterior is finished with flame mahogany veneers to the drawer fronts and the top surface. The drawers are fitted with turned mahogany knobs and simple brass keyhole escutcheons. The piece is supported by a shaped apron and stands on turned feet.
Condition report:
The chest is in good antique condition with signs of age and wear. The top surface shows light scratching and minor crazing to the finish. There is a visible horizontal shrinkage crack to the mahogany veneer on the lowermost drawer front. Minor scuffs and marks are present on the base and feet consistent with age.
