This mid-century modern dining suite was manufactured by Ercol in High Wycombe, England, circa 1960. The set comprises a Model 383 Windsor dining table and a set of six Quaker-style chairs. The table features a rectangular solid elm top with rounded corners and a prominent grain pattern, supported by a beech sub-frame with four tapered, splayed legs. The underside of the table frame retains a vintage blue and gold manufacturer label reading ERCOL MADE IN ENGLAND. The seating includes two carver armchairs and four side chairs, all in the Quaker design. Each chair is constructed with a solid elm seat and a beech frame featuring a high arched hoop back with vertical spindles. The underside of the chairs is stamped with the British Standards heart Kitemark, dated 1960, and numbered 2056. All chairs are fitted with removable, non-original upholstered seat pads in a multi-coloured patterned fabric, secured with buckled straps.
Condition report:
The suite is in good vintage condition. The tabletop exhibits surface scratches, minor indentations, and signs of wear consistent with age and domestic use. The chair frames are structurally sound. The removable seat pads are later additions and show light wear.
