A mid-century modern tall chest of drawers from the Brandon range manufactured by G-Plan. The piece is constructed with teak veneers featuring a warm, medium-toned finish and distinctive integrated pull handles crafted from solid teak. The design comprises five drawers of uniform height, each fitted with two sculpted wooden handles, and the unit sits upon a recessed plinth base. The interior secondary wood is a mahogany-toned plywood. The interior of one drawer bears an authentic gold-stamped maker’s mark consisting of a square border with rounded corners. Inside the border are large stylized letters EG, surrounded by text reading E. GOMME and HIGH WYCOMBE. The name G-PLAN is printed directly below the logo.
Condition report:
The piece is in good structurally sound vintage condition. The top surface shows significant signs of age and use, including several prominent water rings, circular heat marks, and general surface fading and scuffing to the lacquer. The drawer fronts and side panels remain in better condition with only minor nicks and light wear consistent with age. The interior of the drawers appears clean. A light professional refinishing to the top surface is recommended to restore the chest to its full potential.
