A mid-century modern teak media cabinet produced by British manufacturer Nathan Furniture as part of their Classic range. This model 5304 features a single drop-down front decorated with the signature squares within squares panelled design. The unit is constructed from teak and teak veneers. The front door opens on a full-length metal piano hinge and is supported by two adjustable metal stays. The interior is divided into two sections by a vertical partition. The right-hand compartment includes an integrated sliding pull-out shelf designed to accommodate media players or consoles. The cabinet retains its original manufacturer labels located on the sliding shelf, including a black and silver nathan The master craftsmen brand label and a gold-toned label identifying it as the 5304 LOW TV/VIDEO UNIT. An original circular paper hang tag is also attached to the interior hardware. The door is secured in the closed position by magnetic catches and features an integrated finger pull along the top edge. The unit rests on a simple plinth base.
Condition report:
The cabinet is in good vintage condition. The teak surfaces show light wear and some minor surface scratches and indentations, particularly to the top surface, which are consistent with age and domestic use. The wood retains a warm and consistent colour and grain. The internal sliding mechanism, piano hinge, and metal support stays are all in good functional order.
