A late 20th-century rattan and cane vanity suite, attributed to Dixie. The set comprises a two-drawer chest and a separate arched mirror unit. The chest features woven cane drawer fronts fitted with cylindrical wooden pulls, set within a bent rattan frame and finished with a light wood-grain laminate top. The corresponding upper section consists of a tall arched mirror over an integrated storage trough, detailed with matching woven cane panels. The piece is constructed with standard late-century mass-production techniques, utilising rattan-wrapped joints and plywood drawer internals. No maker’s marks or manufacturer’s labels were identified during inspection. Two small white adhesive labels bearing the handwritten digits 58496 are present on the top surface and mirror frame.
Condition report:
The suite is in fair condition with visible surface scuffs to the laminate top and minor splintering or wear to the rattan edges, particularly along the drawer fronts.
