An assortment of various vintage and antique items. The collection features a white-painted wooden finger-post distance sign with black stencilled lettering for S. BRENT 1 1/2 and a directional arrow, associated with South Brent in Devon. A large traditional wooden jointer plane is included, featuring a wooden stock and a metal iron secured by a wooden wedge. The lot contains a grey metal mechanical device marked NEWBRIDGE MADE BY HORSTMANN GEAR CO LTD BATH, ENG, which is a vintage gas controller for street lighting. Also present is a pair of black-textured binoculars and a green cardboard box for INSTRUMENTS by Ferrograph. Other pieces include a painted figurine of a male figure in historical military uniform, possibly of plaster or ceramic construction, a silver-tone metal gallery tray with an openwork border, a terracotta bell-shaped item with a cord, two wicker baskets including a hen-shaped example, and a small hand broom with a red handle.
Condition report:
The items exhibit varying degrees of condition consistent with age and long-term storage. The railway sign shows surface scuffs, dirt accumulation, and minor paint loss. The wooden plane has significant surface wear, staining to the timber stock, and heavy oxidation to the metal iron. The binoculars show extensive oxidation and verdigris to the metal rings and body. The Horstmann mechanical device has surface grime and oxidation. The Ferrograph box and gallery tray show surface dust and storage wear. The historical figurine has some paint loss and surface marking. Wicker items are generally intact with minor fraying to the weave.
