Item 1: Utterly Utterly Live! Comic Relief at the Shaftesbury Theatre
Format: 12-inch vinyl LP in a gatefold sleeve.
Label and Catalogue Number: WEA, WX 51 (240 932-1).
Year: 1986.
Pressing: UK market release, manufactured in Germany by Record Service GmbH, Alsdorf.
Artists: Various including Rowan Atkinson, Kate Bush, Billy Connolly, Ben Elton, French and Saunders, Stephen Fry, Bob Geldof, Lenny Henry, Cliff Richard, and The Young Ones.
Features: The front cover retains a vintage HMV price sticker and bears two handwritten inscriptions. One in blue ink reads ‘Lots of love again! (and again and again) Ben xx’, consistent with the handwriting of Ben Elton. The second in black ink reads ‘and more from’ followed by a stylized signature consistent with Rick Mayall. The interior gatefold contains a collage of performance photographs.
Item 2: The Comic Strip
Format: 12-inch vinyl LP in a gatefold sleeve.
Label and Catalogue Number: Springtime / Island Records Ltd., HA HA 6001.
Year: 1981.
Recording: Recorded live at The Comic Strip, Soho, London.
Artists: Alexei Sayle, The Outer Limits (Peter Richardson and Nigel Planer), 20th Century Coyote (Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson), French and Saunders, and Arnold Brown.
Features: Monochrome gatefold sleeve with a cover depiction of a bomb over the Houses of Parliament and a ‘Have a Nice Day’ tag. The interior gatefold contains a collage of performers with associated quotes.
Condition report:
Sleeves: Generally Good to Very Good. The Comic Relief sleeve shows minor edge and corner wear with light ring wear. The Comic Strip sleeve shows more pronounced ring wear on the front and back, with scuffing to the corners and edges. Media: Not visible for inspection; untested.
