This armchair is of the Smoker’s Bow or Captain’s style Windsor design, likely dating from the mid-20th century. It is constructed from stained hardwood, with the saddle-shaped seat showing a prominent grain characteristic of elm. The back features a wide, steam-bent curved top rail supported by vertical spindles and two thicker turned arm supports. The chair stands on four splayed, turned legs which are joined by a central H-stretcher for added stability. The joinery consists of traditional turned components fitted into the solid wood seat. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the piece.

The chair is in structurally sound condition. It shows visible signs of wear and age commensurate with use, including surface scratches, scuffs, and abrasions to the seat and arms. The stained finish exhibits some unevenness and wear in several areas.
