A lot consisting of a small chest of drawers and a decorative ceramic vase. The chest is constructed from dark-stained wood and contains three drawers, each featuring a recessed square panel set with a colourful illustration of a patterned, tribal-style mask. The large ceramic vase of bulbous form is finished in a cream-coloured crackle glaze. It is decorated with an all-over polychrome foliate pattern consisting of scrolling vines, lobed leaves, and stylized floral motifs in shades of green, gold, red, and orange. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are visible on either item.
Condition report:
The wooden chest displays surface scuffs, minor scratches, and general wear to the finish consistent with previous use. The ceramic vase shows a prominent chip on the outer edge of the flared rim with an associated hairline crack extending into the neck. The crazing across the surface of the vase is a characteristic feature of the crackle glaze.
