A four drawer campaign chest of solid pine construction featuring a two-over-two drawer configuration. The chest is fitted with heavy-gauge iron swing-loop carry handles to each side and flush-mounted rectangular metal drawer pulls. Each drawer contains a central keyhole. The entire exterior, including the hardware, is finished in multiple layers of off-white paint. The interior of the drawers is unpainted solid wood showing natural knots and simple joinery. A faint square indentation is visible on the top surface, although any internal markings are obscured by paint layers. A modern paper label marked 29674 is present on the top.
Condition report:
The piece is in well-used condition with significant surface wear consistent with utilitarian use. The paint is heavily chipped, scuffed, and stained across all surfaces. One drawer is missing a metal keyhole escutcheon. A dark diagonal smudge is present on the right-hand side. All hardware has been painted over. The wooden interiors exhibit wear and marking consistent with age.
