A 12-volume set of Beatrix Potter’s children’s stories, published by F. Warne & Co. as part of the World of Peter Rabbit series. This collection is identified as the New Editions featuring reproductions from the original watercolours, authorized by the publisher. The set is housed in its original 12-copy presentation box, constructed from illustrated boards with a white plastic carrying handle and a gold-tone metal clasp. The interior lid of the box features a colour illustration of a mouse reading.
The collection includes the following titles, numbered 1 through 12 on the spines: The Tale of Peter Rabbit, The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin, The Tailor of Gloucester, The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, The Tale of Two Bad Mice, The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, The Tale of Tom Kitten, The Tale of Jemima Puddle-duck, The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies, The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse, and The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes. Each volume is a small-format hardcover bound in white pictorial boards with a matching original dust jacket. The volumes feature the signature colour illustrations of Beatrix Potter throughout.
Condition report:
The presentation box shows age-related yellowing and surface discolouration, with minor scuffing and wear to the edges and corners. The plastic handle and metal clasp remain fully functional. The twelve volumes are in very good condition with clean white spines and minimal wear to the dust jackets. Interior pages appear clean and well-preserved.
