A substantial group of vintage British oven-to-table glassware manufactured by James A. Jobling and Co. Ltd (JAJ Pyrex) in Sunderland, England. The collection is primarily comprised of a service in the mid-century Matchmaker pattern, characterised by alternating vertical wedges of sky blue and sage green on a white opal glass body. The Matchmaker components include a group of dinner plates, side plates, tea plates, a gravy boat with matching stand, an oval serving dish, and a round lidded casserole dish. Also included is a round white opal glass casserole dish with a clear glass lid in the Snowflake pattern, featuring stylised black and blue motifs. The lot further contains a nesting set of clear glass mixing bowls, a clear glass measuring jug with red metric and imperial graduations, and a group of amber-tinted Fireside range nesting casserole dishes with matching lids. Bases of the opal glass items bear the embossed JAJ crown and griffin mark, flanked by the words Made in and England, with Pyrex embossed below.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition. No chips or cracks are evident to the glass pieces or lids. There is minor surface scratching and light wear to the transfer patterns consistent with age and regular domestic use. The opal glass retains a bright finish without significant dishwasher dulling.
