A set of six ironstone plates from the Aquarius Fish Series produced by Washington Pottery. Each plate is of rectangular form with rounded corners and features a wide, radially fluted border. The central wells are decorated with various transfer-printed graphic illustrations of fish species, executed in a bold mid-century style. The designs utilise a vibrant colour palette including shades of green, blue, orange, yellow, and purple, accented by bubble motifs and intricate textured patterns. The reverse of each piece bears a black printed backstamp reading AQUARIUS (FISH SERIES) English Ironstone Tableware BY WASHINGTON POTTERY STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND.
Condition report:
All six plates display extensive and prominent fine surface crazing to the glaze across the central wells and the ribbed borders. There are no visible chips, cracks, or signs of repair. One plate has a small white adhesive label attached to the central well.
