Buyer's Premium:

An assortment of decorative and souvenir objects of various regional origins. The collection features a tall stylized wooden giraffe sculpture with inlaid spots of lighter-coloured wood, characteristic of mid-20th-century African export art. Also present are carved wooden rhinoceros figures. A group of small wooden vessels includes flared vases, lidded jars, and a miniature barrel, each hand-painted with tropical island scenes. The barrel is inscribed JAMAICA B.W.I. and a vase is marked B.W.I., referring to the British West Indies. The collection also contains a pair of carved wooden bookends featuring incised geometric sunburst patterns and a long dark wood staff with a spiral-carved shaft and a knobbed terminal. A circular brass souvenir plate features a decorative etched floral border and is inscribed SOUVENIR OF IRAN and KHARG ISLAND, with central calligraphic script in Persian or Arabic.

Condition report:

All items exhibit surface dust and minor age-related wear. The wooden giraffe sculpture has minor scuffs to the base and body. The painted wooden vessels show small areas of paint loss and surface scratches. One bookend has a light-coloured rectangular mark on the front vertical face, likely residue from a former label. The brass plate shows overall tarnishing and oxidation.
