A set of four French two-light wall sconces crafted from gilt-finished cast metal. The design follows the Louis XVI revival style, featuring an ornate frame with a ribbon and bow crest and a scrolling foliate tail. The centre of each sconce holds a circular red-finished medallion with a decorative cast boss. Two scrolling arms extend to support red-finished bobeches. These units are fitted with brass B22 bayonet lamp holders and are wired with modern twin-core cable terminating in plastic block connectors. The reverse of the upper ribbon casting bears the cast mark MADE IN FRANCE, and the reverse of the lower tail has a hand-applied number 95 in white.
Condition report:
The set is in fair decorative condition. The gilt surfaces show rubbing, surface oxidation, and accumulated dust consistent with age. The red-finished sections exhibit surface scratches, small chips, and paint loss, particularly to the bobeches. Some cast arms show slight misalignment. One medallion retains a paper auction sticker. All electrical components are sold as untested and must be professionally inspected and potentially rewired prior to use.
