This lot comprises an assortment of horse figurines in various materials including ceramic, porcelain, wood, and stone. The collection features a large Keith Humphries Polperro Pottery studio ceramic horse depicted in a standing pose with one front leg raised and a moulded decorative collar. This piece is finished in a mottled red and brown glaze over a cream body. The base is impressed with a bee mark, Made in Polperro Cornwall, and Keith Humphries Pottery in a banner. Also included is a mid-century modern style porcelain horse by the Konakovo Faience Factory, USSR, depicted in mid-leap with a high-contrast black and white glaze. The underside bears a red printed hexagonal K mark, Made in USSR, and APT 2083-y. The lot further contains a group of porcelain horses in a dappled grey glaze, consisting of one large standing model and two smaller figures. Miscellaneous items include a traditional Swedish wooden Dala horse painted red with multi-coloured floral patterns, a small carved white stone horse, and a small dark brown figurine of a recumbent horse.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed condition. The Keith Humphries and Konakovo pieces appear generally sound with minor surface grime consistent with age and storage. The group of dappled grey porcelain horses exhibits significant damage and repairs; the largest horse shows two leg repairs with visible brown adhesive residue and a chip or repair to the tip of one ear, while one smaller horse has a chipped ear. The wooden Dala horse and stone figurines show minor surface wear consistent with age.
