This lot comprises approximately nine assorted mantel and alarm clocks of varied periods and styles. Included is a Smiths mechanical mantel clock featuring a dark-stained wooden case with a brass double-scroll carrying handle. The square cream dial is set with applied gold-tone baton hour markers and is marked Smiths and Made in Great Britain. The rear movement is marked Smiths, Made in England, and PBM 593, and is accompanied by a winding key. There are two Metamec clocks: a rectangular dark wood mantel clock with a silver-tone dial and a modern quartz movement, and a mid-century shaped mantel clock with a curved wood veneer frame and mechanical wind-up movement. Also included is a vintage arched mantel clock in a dark wood veneer case with a white dial and Arabic numerals. Smaller timepieces feature a Columbia mechanical alarm clock in a yellow painted metal case and a Tavistock and Jones contemporary silver and black plastic alarm clock with a Super-Silent quartz movement. The collection is rounded out by a black plastic pillar-style clock, a grey cube clock, and a small yellow plastic travel alarm clock partially marked Pifco.
Condition report:
All items in this lot are sold as-is and have not been tested for working order. The Smiths clock shows surface wear to the wooden case and tarnish to the dial hands and markers. The rectangular Metamec clock exhibits significant spotting and oxidation to the top surface. The arched mantel clock has extensive scratching to the dial face and scuffs to the veneer. The Columbia alarm clock shows notable paint loss and surface corrosion. The Tavistock and Jones clock appears in good used condition with light surface dust. The remaining items show varying degrees of age-related wear, including scratches and dust. Battery-operated movements either lack batteries or contain expired cells.
