A mid-20th century oak dressing chest featuring a superstructure with a rectangular swivel mirror held between two turned supports with ball finials. The mirror sits above a narrow raised display shelf. The base contains three full-width graduated drawers. The chest is constructed from oak with secondary pine or mixed light hardwood visible in the drawer construction. Each drawer is fitted with two stamped brass-tone bail handles with ornate scrolling backplates. The unit is raised on four square-section legs, each terminating in a metal castor. The drawer interiors have been lined with modern decorative paper featuring botanical garden and seed packet motifs. No maker’s marks, stamps, or manufacturer labels are visible. There is a small white rectangular adhesive residue on the top surface.
Condition report:
The piece shows signs of age and regular use, with various surface scratches, scuffs, and small indentations to the timber throughout. A visible white adhesive residue mark is present on the top surface towards the right edge. The mirror glass appears intact without significant desilvering. The metal castors and drawer hardware appear functional. The modern drawer lining is intact but shows some minor signs of use.
