Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium:

A quartersawn oak mantel clock of architectural form, featuring a gambrel-style arched top and straight sides. The facade is detailed with two inset reeded columns, each fitted with cast metal foliate-motif mounts at the top and base. The case rests upon a stepped plinth base. The approximately 10 cm circular white dial has black Roman numerals, a rail-track minute ring, and two winding apertures, protected by a brass bezel with a bevelled glass cover. The hands are black steel in a spade-and-poker design. The interior contains a mechanical eight-day spring-driven movement with two barrels, striking on both a bell and a coiled wire gong. The lot is accompanied by a circular pendulum bob and a double-ended steel winding key. Indistinct stamped marks are present on the brass back plate of the movement.

Condition report:

The oak case shows typical signs of age-related wear, including minor surface scuffs, small scratches, and light fading to the finish. The cast metal decorative mounts and the dial bezel have developed a dark, natural patina with some surface tarnish. The dial remains in good overall condition with very light age-toning. The movement appears complete with no obviously missing components; however, it has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy or strike function and should be considered as requiring professional service.
