A dining set comprising an early 20th-century Jacobean revival gateleg drop-leaf table and four wheelback Windsor chairs. The oval table top is constructed from solid oak, displaying prominent medullary rays characteristic of quartersawn timber. The perimeter of the top features a decorative carved lunette border. The table is supported by an eight-leg gateleg base with spiral-turned barley twist legs and joined by matching stretchers. The coordinating chairs are of hoop-back Windsor form, each featuring a central splat with a pierced wheel carving, flanking spindles, and turned legs. The entire set is finished in a uniform dark stain. A small adhesive label with the handwritten numbers 9348 is present on one table leg.
Condition report:
The set is in good structural condition. The finish exhibits general surface wear throughout, including scratches, scuffs, and small nicks consistent with age and regular use. There is visible thinning and wear to the lacquer on the table top and chair seats. Minor dings are present on the edges of the table leaves and legs. Dust and grime are accumulated within the carved details and turnings.
