A contemporary solid knotty pine blanket or storage chest produced by the British manufacturer Ducal. The rectangular chest features a hinged lid with bullnose edges, opening on a full-length brass-tone piano hinge with two internal metal lid stays for safety. The interior is fitted with two removable, sliding storage trays lined with green felt. The exterior is designed with raised rectangular panels to the front and sides, accented by rounded corner pillars. The unit is supported by a shaped plinth base featuring integral bracket feet. Construction details include dovetail joints to the internal trays. A green and gold foil manufacturer’s label is affixed to the underside of the lid, transcribed: ducal, Made in England, by Ducal Ltd. Condition report:
The chest is in good, sturdy condition. The wood surfaces show minor signs of domestic use, including light surface scratches, faint scuffs, and small indentations, primarily to the lid and base. The interior is clean, and the felt lining on the trays is well-preserved. The hinges and lid stays are fully functional.
