An Imperial Typewriter Co. Ltd. Model 50 desktop manual typewriter, manufactured in Leicester, England. The machine is finished in black and features a four-bank QWERTY keyboard with circular glass-topped keys. The side panel displays a series of international patents, including British 229479-25, Italian 243956-25, French 591471-25, and USA 1605767-26. The second machine is a Royal Futura 800 portable manual typewriter in a grey finish with red Royal logos to the front and rear. This model includes a keyboard with white plastic keycaps and dedicated tabulator control keys. Both units incorporate their original carriage assemblies and internal typebar mechanisms.
Condition report:
Both typewriters are in uncleaned, as-found condition with significant accumulations of dust, lint, and debris within the internal mechanisms and between the keys. The Imperial model shows visible surface oxidation and pitting to the metal components and carriage rails. The Royal model exhibits surface grime and minor scuffing to the grey casing. Both machines have paper remnants loaded. Mechanical functionality has not been tested, and no carrying cases or accessories are included.
