This lot comprises two framed decorative reproduction prints depicting famous religious subjects by Italian Renaissance masters. The primary item is a large-format commercial lithographic or giclée print of Raphael’s Sistine Madonna. The composition shows the Virgin and Child standing on clouds, flanked by Saint Sixtus and Saint Barbara, with the iconic pair of cherubs resting on a parapet at the base. The print is set within a substantial, wide, black-stained moulded wood frame behind glass. The secondary item is a smaller reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci’s Madonna Litta, depicting the Virgin Mary breastfeeding the Christ child. This piece is presented in a moulded gilt-effect frame with a burgundy card mount. No artist signatures, edition numbers, or publisher marks are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
The large Sistine Madonna print shows significant condition issues, including widespread white spotting and surface degradation across the image, which appears consistent with foxing or mould growth, particularly evident in the darker blue areas of the Virgin\'s robes. The black frame has minor scuffing and finish wear to the edges. The smaller print and its gilt frame show minor surface wear. Both items exhibit general dust accumulation on and behind the glass.
