Lot 522: Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Architectural Mirror Panel

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium:

An Edwardian mahogany and satinwood inlaid wall-hanging mirror, constructed as an architectural panel likely originally forming part of a larger furniture unit such as a sideboard or washstand back. The piece features a central rectangular mirror plate set between two horizontal panels, each decorated with satinwood stringing and cross-banded decorative inlay. To the left is a taller vertical section featuring molded paneling and a curved top pediment detail, supported by two small carved brackets. The classical style and fine inlay work are characteristic of the Edwardian period. A small white adhesive label marked L 9677 is present on the top right panel. The left-hand outer edge of the frame is raw and unfinished, and the asymmetrical form indicates it was originally integrated into a larger fitted installation.

Condition report:

The rectangular mirror plate shows visible signs of age including foxing and minor silvering loss, particularly around the edges and in scattered spots across the centre. The mahogany frame exhibits general surface wear, including minor scratches, knocks, and abrasions to the wood finish consistent with age and use. The left-hand vertical panel has a raw, unfinished outer edge.
