A solid 22 carat yellow gold wedding band by the maker S. G. Gough Ltd. The band is designed in a classic ‘D-section’ form, featuring a domed exterior and a flat interior profile. The gold exhibits the deep, rich yellow colour characteristic of high-purity 22 carat fineness. The interior is fully hallmarked with the maker’s mark ‘S.G.G’, the crown gold standard mark, the fineness mark ’22’, the Birmingham anchor office mark, and the date letter ‘G’ corresponding to the year 1906. The ring weighs 3.64 grams. The value of this piece is underpinned by its high gold content and its early 20th-century antique provenance, which appeals to both collectors of Edwardian jewellery and those seeking high-karat gold for its intrinsic worth.
Condition report:
The ring is in good antique condition. The surface shows a light patina of fine hairline scratches and minor indentations, which are entirely consistent with regular use over a century. There are no signs of structural thinning, resizing, or previous repairs. The hallmarks remain remarkably clear and well-defined.
