This collection of glazed earthenware from Portmeirion Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent, England, is in the Botanic Garden pattern designed by Susan Williams-Ellis. The assortment includes a variety of items featuring botanical and ornithological transfers within the signature green leaf border. Serving items comprise a large round bowl with Wild Rose motif, a tall coffee or water jug decorated with Dianthus Barbatus (Sweet William), a lidded teapot, a divided oval vegetable dish with Cyclamen, and fluted tart dishes. The tea and coffee service includes cups and saucers in the Speedwell motif, mugs featuring Bellis Perennis, a small cream jug, and lidded sugar or preserve jars. Dining pieces include plates with White Wagtail bird designs and Gazania Ringens floral motifs, alongside cereal or soup bowls. Accessories feature salt and pepper shakers, a tall butterfly-decorated shaker, teapot-shaped tea bag tidies, vases with Colchicum (Meadow Saffron), napkin rings, and a ceramic tile trivet in a wooden stand. The collection also includes cork-backed coasters. Pieces bear various Portmeirion backstamps to the underside, including circular black marks with the 1972 date symbol and the green crest mark.
Condition report:
The items generally appear in good used condition with bright glazes and well-preserved transfers. There is a significant chip to the tip of the teapot spout. Light surface wear consistent with age and domestic use is present across the collection. One plate has a small adhesive inventory sticker.
