A Godinger silver-plated jewellery box of rectangular form, featuring an all-over repoussé scrolling foliate and floral design, raised on four bracket feet. A circular silver-plated trinket box with a cast Celtic knot motif to the lid. A decorative silver-plated basket with an ornate overhead handle and a body featuring cast grape clusters and vine foliage. A collection of souvenir spoons, many with enamelled or cast terminals representing locations such as Arundel Castle, Canberra, and Sydney, stored in a cardboard shoebox. Included is a cased set of six silver-plated coffee spoons with dark bean-shaped finials in a yellow satin-lined case. The lot also comprises a serving fork with a foliate-engraved metal head and a mother-of-pearl handle, a decorative magnifying glass with a Celtic-patterned handle, a laser-etched glass cube, and several small trinket boxes in glass and metal. Ephemera includes a vintage orange Godfrey Phillips Grand Cut tobacco tin, a ceramic Sherry bottle label in a presentation box, and a black textured eyeglass case marked for Cooper & Co. (W. N. Crosland, F.S.M.C.), 134 High St. Sutton.
Condition report:
The collection shows varying degrees of wear consistent with age and domestic use. Silver-plated items exhibit surface tarnish, oxidation, and patina. The cardboard and satin-lined cases show surface abrasions, staining, and wear to the hinges. The tobacco tin and eyeglass case show edge wear and minor surface scratching. General accumulation of dust is present throughout the lot.
