Buyer's Premium:

A large and comprehensive service of Denby stoneware in the Potters Wheel Rust pattern. The collection features a characteristic speckled oatmeal glaze accented with hand-applied dark brown banding and prominent central rust-coloured circular motifs, particularly on the flatwares. The service comprises multiple components including three lidded casseroles of varying sizes, two of which are marked with capacities of 4PT and 2PT respectively, featuring twin lug handles and domed lids with concentric brown rings. The set further includes several individual twin-handled lidded bowls, a group of oval dinner plates, a large oval serving bowl, and an assortment of cereal and soup bowls in multiple sizes. Tea and coffee wares are present with multiple cups featuring a brown base band and matching saucers. Serving pieces include a rectangular lidded butter dish on a matching stand, a sauce boat with an elongated handle, and a selection of condiment pieces including a small lidded pot. The pieces bear various Denby factory marks to the bases, including a shield-shaped stamp reading DENBY STONEWARE MADE IN ENGLAND and a rectangular stamp reading Denby MADE IN ENGLAND in a stylised script.

Condition report:

The collection is in generally good vintage condition, appearing well-maintained with no visible large chips, cracks, or professional repairs. There is minor surface wear and occasional glaze imperfections consistent with age and domestic use. The unglazed foot rings show typical shelf wear. A small adhesive label is present on one small lidded vessel.
