A collection of three wooden furniture items consisting of an open oak bookcase, an oak trestle-base coffee table and a mahogany-finished occasional table. The open bookcase features a shaped gallery top and shaped sides, housing three fixed shelves and a dark-stained plywood back. The oak coffee table is constructed in a traditional revival style with a rectangular top over two shaped trestle-end supports, joined by a central stretcher using wedge-and-peg joinery. The occasional table features a serpentine-moulded top over two lyre-shaped end standards with metal string detailing, joined by a centrally turned stretcher. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on any of the items.
Condition report:
All items show signs of use consistent with age. The bookcase exhibits general minor surface scuffing and wear. The lyre-base occasional table has extensive scratching, scuffing and finish degradation to the tabletop, with wear to the feet. The trestle-base table shows minor surface abrasions to the top and scuffing to the base and feet; the piece is structurally sound.
