Two large commemorative medals celebrating significant World War II anniversaries. The lot includes an oval medal issued in 2014 for the 70th Anniversary of the Normandy Landings (D-Day). The obverse features a pad-printed colour image of Allied soldiers landing on a beach with the inscriptions 6.6.1944 D-DAY and BATAILLE DE NORMANDIE – OPERATION OVERLORD. The reverse depicts soldiers in a landing craft and is inscribed 70th ANNIVERSARY OF NORMANDY LANDINGS and 70 EME ANNIVERSAIRE DU DEBARQUEMENT EN NORMANDIE. This medal is accompanied by a German certificate of authenticity bearing serial number G 0943 and technical documentation. Also included is a circular medal issued in 2020 for the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. The obverse displays a relief portrait of Winston Churchill against a pad-printed colour Union Jack, accented by two inset blue crystals. It bears the quote GOD BLESS YOU ALL. THIS IS YOUR VICTORY. The reverse is inscribed VE DAY IN GREAT BRITAIN and END OF WORLD WAR II IN EUROPE. Documentation indicates a limited edition of 9,999. Items are housed in original protective plastic sleeves with associated marketing literature.
