This lot consists of a high-quality upholstered divan bed set by the British manufacturer Vispring, comprising the Herald Supreme mattress, a split divan base, and a matching headboard. The mattress is constructed with 1476 tensioned pocketed springs arranged in a honeycomb pattern, layered with soft cotton and long-stranded horsehair. It is upholstered in a cream-coloured floral damask fabric featuring a repeating foliate motif. The mattress is hand-tufted with hand-stitched side panels and incorporates ventilation grommets and fabric carrying handles. A manufacturer label identifies the model and materials, with an adjacent tag specifying the tension as Softer Springing. The matching divan base is split into two sections for ease of movement and includes integrated wooden storage drawers. The headboard features traditional deep-button tufting in a Chesterfield style with a shaped, piped top rail and is mounted on two vertical wooden struts.
Condition report:
The set is in used condition and shows visible signs of wear from domestic use and storage in a non-domestic environment. The mattress side panels and areas around the carrying handles exhibit staining and localised soiling. The headboard shows light surface dirt, particularly on the lower section that is positioned behind the mattress. The divan base shows general wear with minor scuffing to the fabric at the corners. The entire set would benefit from professional cleaning. No structural damage or repairs are evident.
