A large abstract expressionist painting on canvas titled The Forest. The work features heavy impasto brushwork in a vibrant colour palette of red, yellow, green, black, and white. The composition depicts highly abstracted, animalistic forms with energetic gestural lines. Inscribed vertically in white paint along the right edge of the canvas is the text THE TIGER MEETS BORDERLINE. The reverse of the canvas support is handwritten in black ink with the characters DUR 4 and the title The Forest. The painting is housed in a thin, black-painted wooden frame and is mounted on a wooden stretcher with a hanging wire.
Condition report:
The painting is in generally good condition with minor surface dust caught in the thick impasto peaks. There is light scuffing and small areas of paint loss to the edges of the wooden frame. The canvas margins on the reverse show some fraying and light discolouration consistent with age.
