Buyer's Premium:

A pair of framed mid-20th-century oil paintings executed in an impressionistic style. The first work is an oil on canvas landscape depicting a rural scene with a winding track, two prominent trees, and a field of poppies under an overcast sky. It is signed in block letters to the lower right A. TANNITH. The reverse shows the canvas on a wooden stretcher with a handwritten pencil mark reading 8 Gns. The second work is an oil on board seascape showing waves crashing against a rocky coast with a lighthouse on a distant headland. It is signed in red paint to the lower right J. Moody. The reverse bears a gallery label for Dolphin House Gallery, Dolphin House, Dolphin Street, Colyton, Devon. Both paintings are housed in matching frames consisting of a light wood-effect outer moulding, a linen-covered slip, and a thin gilt inner fillet.

Condition report:

The landscape painting on canvas exhibits extensive craquelure throughout the paint surface, with visible flaking and paint loss along the left vertical edge. There is surface dirt and yellowing of the varnish. The seascape painting on board shows light surface dirt. Both matching frames show slight separation at the mitre joints.
