This is an antique Arts and Crafts style oak folio or sheet music cabinet of one-piece construction. The dark-stained oak unit is fitted with two side-hinged doors, each containing two glass panes separated by a single horizontal wooden glazing bar. The outer vertical stiles of the frame are decorated with a repeating carved geometric pattern consisting of interlocking lozenge shapes. The cabinet features original wooden hardware, including two horizontal bar handles and a central keyhole. The interior is configured with six fixed vertical wooden dividers, providing seven individual compartments for the upright storage of large-format items such as folios, maps, or music sheets. A small white rectangular inventory sticker with the digits 29636 is affixed to the exterior glass and an interior divider. No maker’s marks or labels are present.
Condition report:
The cabinet exhibits signs of age and regular use, including various scuffs, scratches, and minor indentations to the timber, particularly at the base, top edges, and corners. The dark finish shows some unevenness and light fading across the surfaces. A small, loose splinter of wood is visible at the base of the third internal divider from the right. The glass remains intact without visible cracks or chips. No key is present.
