A collection of framed architectural watercolour paintings on paper, executed in a loose, illustrative style. The group comprises topographical works by several hands. Included are depictions of St Peter’s Church (Petrikirche) in Rostock, Germany, signed Brumme 90 at the lower left; the versos are further inscribed ROSTOCK. PETRIKIRCHE BY P. BRUMME. A vertical village street scene with a church is signed H. RANDY at the lower right. A horizontal composition depicts a bustling town square in Warsaw with a horse-drawn carriage and figures, inscribed Warsaw – Gellak 1886. All pieces are mounted and set in dark wood frames with gilt-finished inner edges and glazed. One frame retains a trade label for Marlborough Frames, 33 Marlborough Street, Devonport, Plymouth.
Condition report:
Visible mat burn and acid staining to the perimeter of the paper where it meets the mounts across the collection. General toning and yellowing of the paper supports consistent with age. Scattered light foxing marks are present. The wooden frames show minor scuffs and surface wear. Surface dust and light grime are present on the glazing.
