A pair of cast stone garden statues produced by Henri Studio Inc. of Palatine, Illinois. The statues depict seated gargoyles or winged mythical creatures in a Gothic Revival style, featuring stylised manes, prominent ears, and wings held close to the body. Each figure is integral to a rectangular plinth base. The base of the statues bears the incised manufacturer identification: Henri Studio Inc. Palatine, Ill. copyright 2110. The statues are constructed of cast concrete with a dark-coloured surface finish.
Condition report:
Both statues show evidence of heavy weathering and significant structural damage. One statue is missing a large section of the left wing and arm, while the other has a substantial loss to the side of the body. Internal iron armatures are oxidising, leading to visible rust staining on the heads and wings. The dark finish is heavily eroded with surface pitting and exposed aggregate at the sites of the breaks. General surface dirt and moss consistent with garden use are present.
